The Mahaska County Solid Waste Management Commission is responsible for seeking, initiating, and implementing a plan or plans for the development of an acceptable solid waste collection system and disposal facility.

The Mahaska County Solid Waste facility will meet or exceed existing rules and regulations for solid waste disposal established by the Iowa Department of Natural Resources. The duties of the Mahaska County Solid Waste Management Commission are included in a 28E Agreement executed by the participating entities and is comprised of representatives from Mahaska County and its cities.
