New landfill fees take effect on July 1

To preserve our local landfill service, the Mahaska County Solid Waste Management Commission has had to address significant operational, inflationary, and regulatory cost increases. Balancing the landfill's budget has required us to increase our user fees.

Beginning July 1, 2024, new rates apply.

Your local landfill is a vital public service managed by the Commission. Tipping fees have historically been some of the lowest in the United States, and many similarly-sized landfills in Iowa have residential trash pricing considerably more per ton.
